Looking for a Wonder Weeks alternative?
The Wonder Weeks app is the best-known way to follow a baby's developmental leaps. Some parents want something different: a free chart, no account, or more ideas for play. Here is what else is out there and what each app is good for.
Written by the maker of Moonleap, so we are not neutral. We've tried to be fair: everything about other apps comes from their public US App Store and Google Play listings, read in October 2026, and may have changed since. Check the listing before you decide.

Moonleap
A chart of ten developmental leaps, counted from the due date so premature babies are counted right. Each leap shows what may change in your baby's world, the signs you might notice, tips for the fussy days and when to call the doctor.
Good for
- Seeing the whole chart, dates and signs for every leap free, before paying anything
- Babies who don't follow the chart: rate each day with one tap and Moonleap suggests shifting the timing to fit your baby
- Privacy: no account and no ads; data stays on your iPhone and your own iCloud. Ask Moonleap answers questions with Apple's on-device model
- 80 play activities by leap, 150 milestones, a diary tagged by leap, night mode, widgets
Less good for
- Android, iPad or web: it is iPhone only (iOS 17+). Written AI answers need Apple Intelligence
- A parent community or forum: Moonleap has none
- Children older than about 18 months
Price: free for the chart, the signs for all ten leaps, leaps 1 and 2 in full and the diary. Moonleap Plus is $29.99 once, $19.99 a year with a 1-week free trial, or $3.99 a month, and is shared through Family Sharing.

The app behind the idea of "leaps": a personalised chart of ten mental leaps in the first 20 months, with what you can do to help. Its US listing showed a 4.8 rating from about 122,000 ratings at the time of writing.
Good for
- Parents who want the original, based on the authors' own research and book
- A parent community inside the app, and content in many languages
Worth knowing
- At the time of writing, the US listing showed subscriptions of $4.99 a month, $9.99 for 3 months and $34.99 for 24 months, plus e-book chapters at $0.99 each
- In App Store reviews we read (Canada, UK and New Zealand, October 2026), the most common complaint was having to pay before being able to look around, and some parents felt the dates didn't match their baby
Kinedu
A child development app that builds a daily plan of activities based on your baby's age and stage, with access to experts. Free to download.
Pick it over Moonleap if
- You want a daily activity plan that runs well past the first 18 months, or expert guidance
Pick Moonleap if
- What you mainly want is the leap chart and the "why is my baby fussy this week?" part
BabySparks
A personalised daily activity programme for children up to 3, where each activity comes with a video tutorial, plus development and parenting articles. Free to download.
Pick it over Moonleap if
- You learn best from short videos, or your child is past 18 months
Pick Moonleap if
- You want play ideas tied to the leap your baby is in, alongside the leap chart and a diary
Lovevery app
Stage-based activities, tips and child development information, made as a companion to Lovevery's Play Kits subscription. Free to download; at the time of writing, the full app came with an active Play Kits subscription or a separate app subscription, after a free trial.
Pick it over Moonleap if
- You already get, or want, Lovevery's physical Play Kits
Pick Moonleap if
- You want play ideas without buying a kit, plus a leap chart
CDC's Milestone Tracker
Free milestone checklists from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with photos and videos, tips, and what to do if you are ever concerned about your child's development.
Use it alongside any of the apps above
- If you are worried about your child's development, this checklist and your doctor are the right place to start. Moonleap is not a screening tool
Looking for a feeding or sleep tracker?
Apps like Huckleberry and Glow Baby log sleep, feeds and growth. Moonleap doesn't do that, so it isn't an alternative to them; many parents use one of those next to a leap app.
How to choose
- You want to know why this week is so fussy: a leap chart (Moonleap or The Wonder Weeks).
- You want to see it before paying, with no sign-up: Moonleap's chart, signs and diary are free.
- You want daily play plans past 18 months: Kinedu or BabySparks.
- You are worried about a milestone: CDC's Milestone Tracker, and your doctor.
Leaps describe common patterns, and timing varies by a week or two. Every baby is different, and none of these apps replaces your doctor.
